Outdoor Activities

Sinnai offers a multitude of options for sports enthusiasts and more generally for those who enjoy outdoor activities, such as trekking, walking and mountain biking in the countryside around the town.

Activities such as running and walking on both marked and paved paths are available in the Pinewood, which also offers a fitness trail for those who want to work out.

Some of the trails will also lead you to the heritage sites in the area; here are a few examples:

  • Transhumance route.
This route starts at the crossroad between Via Soleminis and Via Spagna, where a car park is available. The route runs through the Campidano Forest until the territory of Soleminis. It was used by shepherds to reach the area known as Trexenta, a land suitable for the herds’ needs.
  • Costa Manna Memorial Stone.
Erected in memory of the first civil aircraft which crashed in Sardinia in January 1953. This monument can be reached from different routes.
  • Bruncu Mogumu.
Ancient worship site, which was used between the 8th and 6th centuries B.C. located in the Pinewood of Sinnai, that can be reached through different routes. For instance, following the route that starts at the corner between Via Soleminis and Via Spagna, it is also possible to visit this holy well, which most likely dates back to Roman era and is known as Sorgente Serra is Schirrus.
  • S’Acqua is Dolus e Is Landireddus.
In the territory of Settimo San Pietro, a single chamber domus de janas and an oak grove planted by Austrian prisoners during the First World War can be observed in the pinewood. The most recommended route to reach this area is the one that starts from the barracks.
